August 2008
My iTunes keeps bouncing back and forth from early Beatles to Nine Inch Nails. I don’t know exactly what my laptop is trying to communicate but I think it’s either “I want to fuck you like an animal back in the USSR” or “I want to hold your perfect drug.”
What, exactly, does one do with a computer that’s either obviously severely depressed or hitting on...

For some reason, this quote makes me feel so much better about the way that I write. Generally I’m just along for the ride, taking notes.
Joe Biden
The addition of Joe Biden to the ticket actually makes me less interested in voting for Obama. I disagree very strongly with a lot of his positions, esp concerning technology and technological progress. His taking claim for writing a good portion of the Patriot Act never sat well with me either.
I’m not saying that it’s an automatic no-vote for me, just that it means I’m not...
For what it's worth observation
rebloggingrebloggingjulia:
This is nothing more than a personal observation but I think if I had to spend an hour having some beers with one of the candidates, all politics aside, it would be McCain. He obviously has some stories, both war & some inside the Senate stuff, that would make the time fly. Obama just strikes me as “that guy” who would be checking his Blackberry every 5 minutes while...
I Want To Be Your Friend
ronen-v:
- Who are you
- What do you make (don’t be embarrassed)
- What activity makes you feel ‘yourself’
- Where did you come from
- Where are you going
- On what are you unwilling to compromise
- What are you looking for
- I wonder that myself often. Sometimes I’m me, other times I’m who I believe I’m “supposed” to be. Expectations are a bitch.
-...

It’s like they are literally unable to speak to the press without mentioning that McCain was a POW. Was there some Presidential signing statement that I’m unaware of that dictates that any and all comments...

– Angus McIntyre (via mikehudack) The internet provides the best medium in all of history for two types of things: the completely superfluous and the vitally important. This is the latter. Brian has dedicated a large portion of his life to (and indeed put it on the line for) those important stories,...
When reading a really good, really philosophical and life-challenging book, I find myself drawn implicitly towards making notes, highlighting passages and scribbling down thoughts in the margins. I cannot help it.
On the other side of the “how dare you deface that book” coin, I also love used books with the same. It’s like a commentary track on a DVD, but from another reader....

Does anyone have some REALLY big wheels I can, uh, borrow?
I really don’t know why everyone’s making a big deal out of the Bigfoot just being a rubber costume; has no one heard of Occam’s Razor? It would have been news if it had been real, not because it’s fake! It didn’t even have a possibility of being real and I should have never even heard of the story in the first place!

No more meetings at Starbucks

From now on all meetings over coffee will take place at charming independent cafes and bookstores. No exceptions.
For a thousand different reasons, I agree with this statement wholeheartedly.

Human free will might seem like the squishiest of philosophical subjects, way beyond the realm of mathematical demonstration. But two highly regarded Princeton mathematicians, John Conway and Simon Kochen, claim to have proven that if humans have even the tiniest amount of free will, then atoms themselves must also behave unpredictably.
Which is exactly why...

Well yeah…that’s pretty much how it should be. If you want religious credit for religious course, that’s fine. Don’t ask for science credit though. It’s not descrimination, or a “secular agenda” it’s just plain common sense.

Is Content King Again? →
(Via NewTeeVee) I claim it always has been, but what do I know?
There has been (and always will be) a novelty period in any new entertainment or technological medium, however I firmly believe that especially when dealing with an inherently “free to the user” business model, the content better be as good as it can be. You’ve got a lot of competition (the entire rest of the...
