Could you guys stop making fiscal, ethical, and medical sense please? We’re trying to be outraged over here.
Although I do love this line from the article:
“I think substance abuse is just ruining our society,” Assemblyman Paul Cook told a California newspaper, as if it were slothful dope-heads and not, say, gluttonous financial services...

I’ll put it out there: I love the feel of not having to remember anything but where my cigarettes are and what order my pre-sets are in without having to look. I could care less what it “feels like” as long as I get where I need to be.
I guess that’s the reason.
People are obsessed with retro things because they think said retro things are more “real,” supposedly....
Who was the first band you saw live?
moth:
(This is a question going around Tumblr.)
My first concert: The Cure headlined, but The Pixies and Love and Rockets opened, so I guess the Pixies were the first band I ever saw live. I was fourteen: August 20, 1989, Giants Stadium. The bands had just released the albums Disintegration, Doolittle, and Love and Rockets. Do I win this thread, or what?

Went to the gym. It’s been like 8 months and it felt good to work out.
Yeah, I’m proud of both of us. This is a good start.

Gone to the gym. My. Calves. Are. Killing. Me.
My entire body still hurts. I can’t extend my arms all the way and everytime I stand up I sound like I’m dying. My co-workers are now referring to me as “The Old Guy.”

Build this Twitter/SXSW app
rickrey:
This is quick summary of Going to SXSW, a simple Twitter app I want someone to build for SXSW ‘09. It uses the Twitter API and the SCHED API to help Twitter users connect IRL at the festival.
Once you give the app permission to connect to your Twitter account (no password necessary thanks to Twitter’s brand spankin’ new OAuth support) you indicate the dates you’ll be in Austin.

If you’ve never done it before, the idea of building a computer from the ground up can seem very intimidating—but it’s one of the most satisfying projects a tech enthusiast can take on.

First one I ever built was in college; I had a buddy guide me through it. It wasn’t nearly as difficult as you might think: Insert part A into slot B, etc. Add software and bootup.

Neural network learning robots →
FTA: “The robot uses a neural network to iterate solutions to problems. The evolutionary aspect is how it can just “decide” to add more neurons whenever the situation changes. The addition of new joints, limbs or even senses just creates a bigger, smarter and more-able-to-see-you robot. It can also lock itself into a specific configuration when it decides things are as good as...

I love all things automotive. Sports cars are my biggest weakness and I have a dream garage that’s embarrassingly large:
Lotus Exige
BMW E46 M3
BMW E60 M5
Nissan GT-R
Ferrari F430
Shelby Daytona
AC Cobra Roadster
Ariel Atom
Lamborghini Gallardo
1967 Corvette Sting Ray Coupe
And that’s just the first 10 off the top of my head. I don’t keep a list,...
