Disney’s Iger On Authentication: ‘We Should Get... →
There’s so much of this article that I take issue with, but I’d like to highlight two sections: Our product is extremely valuable … and if we are offering it on another platform or in another location for the consumer to access it, I believe that’s more value we are delivering [to a distributor or consumer] and we should get paid appropriately. … Iger also talked...

Barefoot Running: Episode 2
Calves still destroyed from last week, I was favoring the right very heavily and hoped to “work it out” as everything warmed up.  5 minutes into the run, though, I had to stop due to excruciating pain.  The soles of my feet still need to toughen up as well, I’m thinking of taking my dad’s advice and doing some beach running for a while, but before I do, I think I’m...

rickyv: The lack of barriers to entry in the media business is devaluing media businesses. The lack of barriers to entry in human interaction, caused by social media, is devaluing personal communication. Hundreds of “happy birthday” messages sent via facebook turn into more of a nuisance than a joy to receive. Or, in either circumstance, it’s making it harder to be generic and forcing new...

It's good to have goals; it's better to meet them.
Five months ago, on February 15th, I decided to get my ass in shape. I was the heaviest I’ve ever been at 175lbs and wanted to get back down to my senior year of high school fighting weight of 155; aka: what’s written on my driver’s license.  I gave myself 3 months to do so; in two months I hit my goal. May 1st, I gave myself another 3 month goal: a single digit percentage of...

Interesting articles on Apple TV’s future, Ning’s new cash, Online Advertising’s $65B problem, a few articles on the Apple Tablet and Diggbar changes, some GDrive/ChromeOS integration speculation, and Palm’s Pre problems. Oh, and Ben Parr asks is the world ready for Google Wave?

Whoa...
I just found out that Craig Mazin and Ted Elliot’s website The Artful Writer linked to my essay, writing: Fascinating essay here, well worth reading. Even if none of it turns out to be true, it’s a sober and informed analysis, which means it’s better than 99.9% of the stuff you read on the web about the future of our business. SAGWatch also picked it up; the comments there are fascinating...

On Customer Service, an example of what not to do.
Dear UPS: If you don’t have the ability to make any changes to the drivers schedules, they why on Earth would you have an option of “make alternate delivery arrangements” both on the “missed delivery notice” and your website?  If all that option does is offer you the ability to return to sender, you’re simply setting up customer service expectations that will...

ladimcbeth: It’s hard not to on the anniversary of the moon landing, because in a small way, it was his victory, too. My grandfather was an engineer for NASA. He helped design the engines and propulsion systems on the Lunar module. He was a brilliant, brilliant man. And I think of things I wish I’d asked him all the time. I know he would have known the answer.
