On Egypt
I haven’t written a lot about Egypt for a number of reasons, but essentially it comes down to two main ones: I don’t know a lot about the history of democracy in Egypt, and what lead up to the current situation. There are better blogs out there providing up-to-the-minute information on the situation (I recommend SoupSoup for my tumblr brethren.) I try not to comment on matters where...

While our correspondent and other staff were out, security forces (not army) entered the office and demanded filming permits and press IDs. They were told that all the recently arrived...

Netflix CEO wades into Net Neutrality debates →

More here and here.  So while publicly calling Wikileaks a terrorist organization, internally the Obama administration was saying the leak wasn’t really bad at all. Surprise, surprise. nickdouglas: Man, it’s apparently a lot easier to get a single-name Twitter handle than it has been for me to get rid of one. It’s refreshing how quickly a Windows partition can be erased by my Mac. Ten seconds later, no restart required, everything was back to as it was...

Mobile phone economics
If the reason you’re stuck on 2 year plans is so the carrier can make back their initial discount (subsidy) on the hardware, shouldn’t non-contracted (i.e. purchased outright by the customer) phones be on cheaper plans? Why don’t non-subsidized plans exist separate from the “we assume you already owe us two years and $300-500” plans?
