It’s good to have goals; it’s better to meet them.
Five months ago, on February 15th, I decided to get my ass in shape.
I was the heaviest I’ve ever been at 175lbs and wanted to get back down to my senior year of high school fighting weight of 155; aka: what’s written on my driver’s license. I gave myself 3 months to do so; in two months I hit my goal.
May 1st, I gave myself another 3 month goal: a single digit percentage of bodyfat by August 1st.
Today, realizing that I was coming into the home stretch, I had the very nice trainers at my gym measure my body-fat to see what I had to do over the next ten days to reach my goal. The verdict:
9.9%
I checked the piece of paper again.
9.9% body-fat.
Whoa. It’s as close as you can get, but I’m counting it firmly in the win column. After just five months of work, I’ve dropped from the heaviest I’ve ever been, to the best shape of my life.
I’ve got two and a half weeks before I leave for a week on the Outer Banks with Beth and her family. My new goal is a short term one: I’m gonna see what I can do between now and then; how much further can I get in the next 2.5 weeks…
