Announcing Season 6 of 60toSexy

60tosexy:

How have those new year’s resolutions been coming? If you’re like 80% of Americans, those “commitments to change” just aren’t sticking. It’s nothing to be ashamed of, it’s just human nature - we’re prone to make grand gestures, stick with them for 2 weeks or so, but abandon them before the habits can form enough to stick.

Good news: we’re back.

For those unfamiliar, we’ve been running these 60 day fitness improvement sessions for a couple years now. The themes are fairly simple: community, cooperation, and a little bit of competition. Basically, you’re more likely to succeed if you have other people helping you out, holding you up, and spurring you on. So we create an environment that encourages you to set goals and take steps to achieve them without worrying about judgment or mockery - all with a healthy dose of good old-fashioned competition.

This season of 60toSexy is no different: we start on February 1st and for 60 days, you’ll push yourself towards accomplishing whatever goals you’ve set for yourself: run a 5k without stopping, lift 300 pounds on a deadlift, or maybe just “don’t miss a workout for 2 full months.” You’ll log your workouts with Fitocracy and update the other members on our Tumblr site at least once a week on your progress. As always, at the end of the 60 days we’ll crown a winner (as tallied through Fitocracy points) and periodically throughout the season we’ll be dropping people for inactivity.

This season has a new focus beyond just activity though: your diet. We’re going to be spending as much thought and energy on what you eat as what you do, and helping you achieve your goals through what fuel you’re providing your body.

So when does this new season start? Tomorrow, February 1st, running through through April 2nd, so you better figure out what your gut reaction is and decide whether or not you want to make some changes. If you’re ready, send us a note on Tumblr or shoot Barrett an email: Spytap At Spytap Dot Net. As always, space is limited to about a dozen people, and if history serves as any indication, we’ll fill up fast.

What can you accomplish in 60 days? How far can you push yourself? Who can you be with 60 days of honest work?

Find out this season.

About

I do lots of things. I'm kind of weird that way.

First and foremost, I'm the Director of Content Partnerships at Blip, where you can discover the best in original web series.

Before that, I ran a consulting company focused on entertainment and government entities called Spytap Industries. In a previous life I helped create United Talent Agency's online division - the first major agency division devoted to representing and monetizing online content.

I also contribute to Here's Some Awesome, a collaborative video curation site that showcases the awesome in online video.

From time to time I write essays on topics of interest from politics, to the future of mass media, to the effects that online content and piracy are having on traditional media. They normally go here. (Latest example: "On Bullying")

This is my personal blog, So while it probably doesn't need to be said, all of the opinions here are solely my own or those of the people I reblog.
