Williamson tells Rolling Stone that Pop called him out of the blue earlier this year and asked him to rejoin: “He asked me if I wanted to play guitar again. I was about to take an early retirement from my job in Silicon Valley, so I figured, ‘What the hell, let’s do it.’” Williamson will join the Stooges— including post-reunion bassist Mike Watt— for full-band rehearsals later this month. He also said that he hopes that new songs are a possibility.
