Henry Rollins gave each member of his audience in Toronto a $10 bill after working out they’d been overcharged for their tickets on Thursday night.
The former Black Flag and Rollins Band frontman, who’s touring his popular spoken word show, told the crowd he’d received a number of complaints about the price of entry, and after investigating the situation, had worked out a computer error was to blame.
He then went into the audience with a bundle of banknotes and handed one to each ticketholder, before going on with his show.
Eyewitness Nicole H reports: “Henry told us a tale of how a few folks had gotten in touch to say, politely, ‘Hey, it’s awesome you’re coming to town, but, oh gosh, the ticket prices are kinda crazy – even with the Ticketmaster fees.’
“Enough people had made contact for him to start ferreting out some information, tracking it back through agents and managers to the point where he discovered that, due to a computer error, the tickets were about $10 more than they should have been.
“So he produced a wad of bills and handed us all one personally. What a bloody champ!”
Rollins, who recently repeated that he may never perform musically again, continues his North American tour until mid-April. He’s set to appear in the UK in August, with two shows in Edinburgh followed by sets at the Reading and Leeds festivals.

This man never ceases to amaze.

Henry, you magnificent bastard…

Dude is one of the toughest, classiest, smartest, most willingly unapologetic guys on the planet, and I cannot help but respect the absolute hell out of him.

About

On my better days, I call myself an entrepreneur. Mostly I like to play in the nexus of technology and the Internet.

I run a consulting company that works with entertainment and government entities called Spytap Industries. S.I. has worked with a broad base of clientele including feature films, TV series, A-list talent, online content creators, Multi Channel Networks, The Department of Defense, DARPA, and The Congressional Commission on the Prevention of Weapons of Mass Destruction and Terrorism (CPWMD).

I'm also the CEO of a stealth startup working to power the next phase of mainstream media (more on that soon.) At nights and on weekends I build things that I think should exist (online and off.)

Prior to this, I was the Director of Content Partnerships at Blip Networks, where you can discover the best in original web series. In a previous life I helped create United Talent Agency's online division - the first major agency division devoted to representing and monetizing online content.

From time to time I write essays on topics of interest such as politics, education, the future of mass media, and the effects that online content and piracy are having on traditional media. They normally go here.

I also contribute to Here's Some Awesome, a collaborative video curation site that showcases awesome online video.

This is my personal blog, So while it probably doesn't need to be said, all of the opinions here are solely my own or those of the people I reblog.
