At first I thought Web TV Dirt was a cool idea. Now I’m unfollowing. No more reblogs from me, guys!

I never did. The last thing our - or really ANY - industry needs is another snarky Gawker/Perez knockoff posting “dirt” on who’s flirting/canoodling/fucking/probably just sitting next to whom. It’s not news, it’s not journalism, it’s “gossip” - which is a near-meaningless word used as a fun little “get out of journalistic ethics free” card.

“Smile for the camera so I can make up rumors about your personal life! Someone told me some completely unsubstantiated speculation about this company that I’ll run as if it were actually valid news - who cares if it’s totally made up and has a negative effect on their business! Maybe I’ll get enough traffic to start selling ads and make some money off of you suckers!”

I can guarantee that if any of my friends is running it, and I find myself the subject of any post on a fucking gossip site, we’re going to be on rocky territory really fucking quickly.

About

I do lots of things. I'm kind of weird that way.

First and foremost, I'm the Director of Content Partnerships at Blip.tv, where you can discover the best in original web series.

Before that, I ran a consulting company focused on entertainment and government entities called Spytap Industries. In a previous life I helped create United Talent Agency's online division - the first major agency division devoted to representing and monetizing online content.

I also contribute to Here's Some Awesome, a collaborative video curation site that showcases the awesome in online video.

From time to time I write essays on topics of interest from politics, to the future of mass media, to the effects that online content and piracy are having on traditional media. They normally go here. (Latest example: "On Wikileaks")

This is my personal blog, So while it probably doesn't need to be said, all of the opinions here are solely my own or those of the people I reblog.
