Moffat’s the kind of writer who likes watching you suffer through his intricate plot twists and turns. RTD was the kind of writer who snuck up behind you, dropped a bombshell, and then ran away cackling into the night.

i just… love this show. i love this showwwwwwwww.

THIS

…and while RTD was sneaking up behind you, he tried distracting you with a bunch of nonsensical noise.
Honestly I appreciate Moffat’s plot intricacies a lot more than RTD’s semi-slapped-on “bombshells.” Yes, I liked this moment - and yes, it made me gasp - but it was also really cheap in the same way that LOST’s moments were cheap. There was no build-up, no thought behind it, just the taking advantage of a coincidence. Kudos for identifying it, but I appreciate the effort in crafting an intentional bombshell over several episodes or seasons a lot more than I do the ability to identify a coincidental one.
With Moffat, I feel he’s writing a novel, and while what happens in chapter three might not pay off until chapter twenty, when it does you immediately look back and see all the clues that got you there. His seasons and arcs are epic in the non-internet manner of speaking - filled with stakes and twists and turns and implications that nearly all actually get resolved in the end. Moffat’s seasons feel like a thousand curved lines each connecting to two single points - they spread apart from each other along their journey, but everything comes crashing back together at the end.
I can appreciate that kind of craftsmanship.

About

On my better days, I call myself an entrepreneur. Mostly I like to play in the nexus of technology and the Internet.

I run a consulting company that works with entertainment and government entities called Spytap Industries. S.I. has worked with a broad base of clientele including feature films, TV series, A-list talent, online content creators, Multi Channel Networks, The Department of Defense, DARPA, and The Congressional Commission on the Prevention of Weapons of Mass Destruction and Terrorism (CPWMD).

I'm also the CEO of a stealth startup working to power the next phase of mainstream media (more on that soon.) At nights and on weekends I build things that I think should exist (online and off.)

Prior to this, I was the Director of Content Partnerships at Blip Networks, where you can discover the best in original web series. In a previous life I helped create United Talent Agency's online division - the first major agency division devoted to representing and monetizing online content.

From time to time I write essays on topics of interest such as politics, education, the future of mass media, and the effects that online content and piracy are having on traditional media. They normally go here.

I also contribute to Here's Some Awesome, a collaborative video curation site that showcases awesome online video.

This is my personal blog, So while it probably doesn't need to be said, all of the opinions here are solely my own or those of the people I reblog.
